    Major technical calculations had to be carried out to construct the complex apex of the building. All framework conditions had to be considered – from wind and weather to the safety of the workers on the scaffolding and passers-by.
    The ACS Self-Climbing System was used for the first time in Denmark for the Lighthouse 2.0, having already proven its worth in numerous construction projects worldwide.
    The rail-guided climbing formwork scored points with its hydraulic drive, large climbing units, high lifting force and rapid processes, which meant that a concreting cycle of just one week per storey could be achieved.

    Award for Denmark's tallest residential building

    The “Lighthouse 2.0” construction project has created new living space with 381 new flats in the purpose-built district of “Aarhus Ø”, not far from the centre of the city of the same name. With its impressive height of 142 metres, the building has been the tallest residential building in Denmark since its completion in 2022. The top floors are home to a restaurant and a roof terrace that is open to the public – with fantastic views of the harbour, the sea and the city. The project has now received an award for the “Best Tall Building” in the “100 to 199 metres” category from non-profit organisation, the “Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat” (CTBUH).

    Visionary stage design realised with 200 tonnes of PERI UP scaffolding

    World Youth Day (WYD) is an international event where young people from all over the world gather every two or three years to meet the Pope. Founded by Pope John Paul II, WYD was first held in Rome in 1986 and has since been held in numerous cities around the world. In 2023, the event was organised in Lisbon during the first week of August and attracted around 1.5 million participants.

    Four towers grow at once thanks to PERI systems

    Four up to 233-m-high futuristic towers will soon soar high into the heart of Frankfurt’s skyline in keeping with the project’s slogan “Feel the City”. PERI is playing an instrumental and successful role in the FOUR Frankfurt inner-city project with a wide range of systems from the formwork, scaffolding and climbing technology segments subject to the most stringent safety regulations and a sophisticated logistics concept.

    Dry docking and maintenance of “Stadt Zürich”, Zurich, Switzerland

    The Zürichsee-Schifffahrtsgesellschaft (ZSG), with more than 100 employees, offers around 1.2 million passengers an idyllic experience year by year, framed by the panorama of the picturesque Swiss Alps. To ensure that the fleet of 17 ships can reliably cover 360,000 kilometres per year on Lake Zurich, it requires regular maintenance.

    The ACS Core 400 System is versatile and can be used with VARIO GT 24 Girder Wall Formwork and MAXIMO Panel Formwork systems.
    The Sky Tower will be the tallest residential tower in Canada reaching 105 storys with a total height of 345 meters.
    The ACS Core 400 system was chosen for its ability to lift the formwork and working platforms of the elevator and stair core between floors without requiring the tower crane and with minimal labour.

    The Tallest Residential Tower in Canada is beginning to rise with PERI Climbing Systems

    The Pinnacle One Yonge project is a multi-phase development, designed by Hariri Pontarini Architects. With its prominent location, across from Toronto’s harbour, the sleek, masterfully designed towers will reshape the city’s skyline. The first three phases of the One Yonge project include residential towers that are 65, 105 and 92 storeys tall respectively.

    The A26 project stands out on account of its five different tunnel cross-sections. In addition, the bends feature tight radii of 50 m to 750 m and the tunnel gradients vary, making it difficult to implement the new transport network.
    To construct the 1,600-m-long access tunnel, PERI engineers developed the first customised and fully hydraulic special-purpose formwork carriage. This alone was sufficient to construct the different cross-sections in a total of 170 concreting sections.
    Given the fact that the very tight curve radii made it difficult to transport the tunnel carriage, an innovative caterpillar system was used to move it.

    The A26 project is one of the most important infrastructure projects in the Austrian city of Linz and the surrounding area with the goal to ease congestion on its urban transport network. The key to success during the project implementation stage was a PERI engineering solution that was innovative, safe and efficient in equal measure, coupled with comprehensive project support. The highlight: The first fully hydraulic tunnel formwork carriage with a caterpillar drive in Austria.

    PERI assisted with the construction of the 550-m-long and 27-m-wide drive-by platform by providing a customised formwork carriage solution.
    The 15,300 m² bridge area is supported by 70 V-shaped columns at a height of over 10 m.
    The 70 V-shaped columns were also constructed with the help of PERI formwork systems.

    Customised formwork carriage cuts construction time by several months

    At the south end of Frankfurt Airport, Terminal 3, with its futuristic design, is currently one of Europe’s largest infrastructure projects. Upon completion of construction in 2024, up to 19 million travellers will be able to arrive at and depart from the three new gates each year. PERI assisted Max Bögl with the construction of the drive-by platform, which will in future provide passengers with direct access to the departure level of Terminal 3.

    PERI is reflecting on a successful bauma 2022

    With more than 200,000 visitors, the PERI exhibition hall at bauma 2022 was a visitor magnet. PERI is now reflecting on a very successful trade fair featuring numerous innovations from the formwork and scaffolding sector as well as exciting talks and discussions. In addition to a comprehensive facelift for the MAXIMO Panel Formwork, additions to the PERI UP Scaffolding Kit and ground-breaking key digital technologies, PERI showcased alternative and sustainable construction methods using MESH technology and TwistBlock Moulds.

    With the motto “Building Sustainability”, visitors can experience first hand how sustainability is promoted at PERI during their visit to the trade fair.

With a facelift of the tried-and-tested MAXIMO Panel Formwork, innovations from the slab formwork sector as well as new digital and disruptive technologies, such as the PERI InSite Construction sensors, 3D Construction Printing and the MESH technology, the formwork and scaffolding manufacturer is preparing the construction industry for the construction site of tomorrow. In addition, visitors can experience first-hand how the topic of sustainability is promoted at PERI with many practical examples.

    The modular PERI UP Facade Scaffold now has an even higher load-bearing capacity and offers greater flexibility thanks to the EVOTOP series. In addition to the introduction of further sophisticated standard assemblies, a significantly reduced number of components and ties is a major advantage in use.
    Thanks to the EVOTOP series from the PERI UP Scaffolding Kit, even wider, longer and higher facade scaffolds can be built in demanding load classes. Heavy and inflexible frames are therefore no longer required in facade scaffold construction.
    PERI UP Cladding is a newly conceived, flexible enclosure system that is the perfect addition to the PERI UP Scaffolding Kit. It helps in providing a spatial enclosure for the construction site, while being an easy-to-install and translucent shield for the construction site personnel and the surrounding area.

    The innovative MESH technology is among the finalists in the digitalisation category of the bauma Innovation Award.     Shaping the future: PERI presents innovative technologies for more efficiency

In addition to innovations from the formwork and scaffolding sector, PERI will present digital technologies for the construction projects of tomorrow. Visitors can look forward to a variety of digital planning tools, innovations in PERI InSite Construction sensor technology, the new myPERI Customer Portal and a live demonstration of 3D Construction Printing. The MESH technology, which is among the finalists for the bauma Innovation Award, is celebrating its première.

    The large, yet compartmentalised building core was formed using components of the ACS Self-Climbing System.
    An access scaffold was erected using components from the PERI UP Scaffolding Kit during the process of assembling and disassembling the console brackets on the building.
    The support structure for the cantilever was moved to the 33rd floor with the help of a crane.

    Project-specific PERI solution for new Frankfurt skyscraper

    At a height of around 190 m, the new 49-storey office and hotel tower ONE by CA Immo is an integral part of the skyline of Frankfurt’s metropolis on the River Main. The skyscraper attracts attention in particular due to its triangular cantilever on the 33rd floor, which is visually reminiscent of the number “1” and lends the building its name.

    The 85 m high and 485 m long Filstal Bridge brings together all the challenges of bridge construction: a sophisticated construction method with slender superstructures and high bridge piers that widen in a Y-shape at the crown, high architectural concrete requirements and a narrow time window to meet the completion deadline.
    The cantilevered parapets on the west bridge were constructed in 24-m-sections using a total of four VARIOKIT Cantilevered Parapet Carriages.
    PERI engineers assisted with the construction of the piers, superstructure and tunnel portals using their solution expertise and modular, coordinated formwork and scaffolding systems.

    The 160 m long tunnel was cast monolithically in a total of nine sections – with only one VTC Tunnel Formwork Carriage.
    With a customised VTC Tunnel Formwork Carriage, consisting of standard components from the VARIOKIT Engineering Construction Kit in combination with GT 24 Girders and Battens in different lengths, the project requirements could be met.
    In total, the tunnel was cast in nine concreting sections, each 17 m long and 8 m high. The combination of concreting sequence and the high speed of the VTC System helped to save a full ten days per cycle.

    The Al Bustan Street South construction project is one of four parts that make up the Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor infrastructure project and features bridges with a total length of more than 10 km.
    The PERI system solution was tailored to account for the specific circumstances on site as one of the great challenges of the project was to carry out the construction work without causing major disruption to traffic.
    Combining the modular VARIOKIT and PD 8 systems proved to be the ideal approach to establishing the superstructure formwork for the in-situ concrete bridge. PD 8 shoring, which was adjusted quickly and steplessly to the different heights, ensured that loads could be transferred in an optimum manner.

    Demanding infrastructure project underway in Doha

    Adherence to deadlines, efficiency and completion without interrupting the flow of traffic are the requirements that are of paramount importance during the Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor infrastructure project. For the construction phase on Al Bustan Street South, PERI made use of the PD 8 shoring system and a combination of systems from the PERI UP Flex portfolio in addition to a tailor-made VARIOKIT solution with VST heavy-duty shoring towers. The customer has therefore taken full advantage of the opportunity to procure time-saving formwork and scaffolding systems from a single source.

    The large-scale project, SKY PARK, is the new cultural epicentre of Bratislava – in addition to customised scaffolding solutions, PERI made use of the RCS rail climbing system in combination with VARIO GT 24 girder wall formwork during the erection of the residential complexes.

    Scaffolding solutions for three residential towers in the new cultural epicentre of Bratislava

    The new cultural epicentre of the region is currently being built in Bratislava: SKY PARK is a multi-functional centre that combines a modern living and working experience with public spaces. Spanning approximately 5 hectares, the site currently encompasses three residential towers, two office buildings, a large park area and the Jurkovič thermal power station, which is being refurbished as part of this major project. In addition to customised PERI scaffolding solutions, amongst others the PERI RCS rail climbing system in combination with the VARIO GT 24 girder wall formwork was used during the erection of the residential complexes.

    PERI UP nestles up to Ulm Minster - up to 71 m high - for the extensive renovation work. A 7 m high intermediate platform provides a possible storage location for the new stones.
    The interior was measured without any as-built plans using 3D laser scanning and this was transferred into a 3D building model – providing the basis for the scaffold planning with PERI CAD.
    The 13,000 m³ PERI UP birdcage scaffold in the choir of Ulm Minster was constructed free standing – with no anchorages onto the historic building structure.

    Three construction sites – one church: Renovation work on Ulm Minster

    The 161.53 m high main tower of Ulm Minster is known as the highest church spire in the world – equally as impressive is the 29 m long, 15 m wide and 26 m high choir. PERI systems are currently assisting with the extensive renovation work on the vaulted ceiling and the choir stalls as part of the restoration of the main tower and the north-east, 86 m high choir tower.

    With the help of a crane, large-sized TRIO elements can be moved very quickly thus ensuring valuable time-savings. In one part of the airport building, walls up to 14 m high were realised.
    For processing a slab area of approx. 220,000 m² at a height of up to 17.50 m, the construction teams installed working platforms totalling 15,500 m² and featuring spans of up to 15 m whilst being supported by PERI UP Flex shoring.

    PERI systems in use for construction of a new airport in Istanbul

    Istanbul Airport can accommodate around 90 million passengers per year but can easily be expanded in order to handle up to 200 million passengers annually. Two gigantic terminal buildings have been planned to deal with this enormous increase in passenger volume - the first terminal alone provides 1.44 million m² of effective area. Various PERI systems were used in the construction of the terminal building as well as for realising other structures.

    Covering the size of 24 football pitches, 17 m high and storage capacity for 13.2 million barrels of oil: at South Africa's Saldanha Bay, a huge crude oil storage facility with twelve 110 m x 110 m tanks was realised.
    Instead of a conventional slab formwork solution, the engineers designed a construction variant borrowed from bridge building using formwork carriages. Thereby, the table-like slab formwork was supported by a VARIOKIT framework construction.
    The high load-bearing capacity of the VARIOKIT system provided the required support for the concrete slab until it had hardened. With only 7 formwork carriage units per tank, each casting segment crane-independently realised 880 m² of slab area per storage tank in regular 5-day cycles.

    Unconventional VARIOKIT solution for underground tanks

    Covering the size of 24 football pitches, 17 m high and having sufficient capacity to store a total of 13.2 million barrels of oil: in Saldanha Bay, South Africa, a huge crude oil tank farm featuring twelve 110 m x 110 m tanks has been realised. The clients of WBHO Construction Ltd. integrated the team of PERI engineers into the project at a very early stage so that they could work together to develop the most appropriate solution for the gigantic task ahead already during the planning phase. The most cost-effective method for constructing the underground tanks proved to be a project-specific solution using the VARIOKIT steel composite carriage with additional specially designed structural steel members.

    The project-specific solution for realising the inner lining was based on a moveable supporting structure consisting of system components taken from the VARIOKIT Engineering Construction Kit.
    The oval-shaped underground structure measures 15 metres in diameter and is up to 30 metres below the city centre of San Francisco.
    The high load-bearing capacity of the VARIOKIT system components facilitated the safe transfer of large loads while simultaneously allowing flexible adaptation to accommodate the challenging tunnel cross-section.

    VARIOKIT tunnel formwork solution deep in the heart of the Golden City

    With construction work being carried out in depths up to 30 metres in the centre of the city famous for the Golden Gate Bridge, an enormous building structure is being realised. When completed, the Chinatown Subway Station will form the northern end of San Francisco's Central Subway System. The new station will significantly improve access to public transport in some of the city's most densely populated areas. The architectural requirements presented the contractor with enormous challenges. PERI developed a project-specific solution based on the VARIOKIT Engineering Construction Kit in order to economically construct the inner lining.

    New products at the leading global trade fair bauma

    Weissenhorn / Munich. Under the motto "Hand-in-Hand for Your Success", PERI presented a range of innovative new products for formwork and scaffolding technology at the bauma which took place from 8th - 14th April. Individual customer requirements of various target groups were the main focus of the respective product development. In keeping with its motto, PERI also presented its extensive range of services and software some of which could be tested directly on the stand.

    Architects, planners, work planners and civil engineers can now download more than 200 scaffolding components in over 150 CAD formats at no cost.

    On the first section through the mountainous region of western Northern Macedonia, the new motorway crosses a total of 14 viaducts. On a length of approx. 10 km, around 4,000,000 m³ of earth had to be excavated and a total of 150,000 t of concrete and 15,000 t of reinforcement were subsequently processed.
    The left, right and centre sections of the bridge superstructure were sub-divided into 64 concreting sections and simultaneously realised using a total of four VBC Balanced Cantilever Carriages.
    With the balanced cantilever method, the superstructure is symmetrically realised on both sides in the form of a balance beam - starting from the rigidly connected pier.

    Project-specific solution for the longest cantilever bridge in Northern Macedonia

    Upon completion, a new, almost 65 km long motorway will connect the cities of Kičevo and Ohrid in the south west of the North Macedonian Republic. On the first section between Kičevo and Podvis, it was necessary to build a 381 m long viaduct. For this, PERI engineers developed a project-specific solution on the basis of the VARIOKIT balanced cantilever equipment. The basis for the construction of the facility is an innovative, BIM‑based scaffolding concept as well as the PERI UP scaffold system with its high level of flexibility for ensuring consistently safe work operations.

    Normally, DUO would be used to form smaller regular shaped structures as an efficient alternative to heavier systems. However, this project proved that the DUO system is capable of more.

    From the onset, the idea was to use DUO panels for horizontal and vertical applications to form slabs, columns and walls. The lightweight panels, the largest weighing no more than 25 kg, were ideal for the project due to its location and confined site space.

    Over the past year, a concrete structure has slowly emerged amongst a more conventional residential setting in East Sussex. The single-storey structure is the first self-build project the owner, Adrian Corrigall, has ever built. At the same time, it’s also PERI’s first housing project with DUO in the United Kingdom.

    After months of planning and construction, Kuma’s vision is now a tangible work of art that is set to open its doors to the public.
    The complex geometry of the panel face required the highest quality work from PERI fabrication teams in the UK and Germany. The panels consist of two layers of 4 mm plywood, 21 mm thick lathing timbers, Cleatbox interlocking chipboard rib grillage and VARIO base panel – SRU walers, GT 24 girder and 21 mm thick chipboard panel face.

    Extraordinary formwork for an extraordinary building

    Inspired by cliffs of sedimentary rock standing proud against the sea, at the centre of Dundee’s £1 billion waterfront regeneration, lies the V&A Museum of Design. This £80.11 million masterpiece, the first UK work penned by renowned Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, is a bold creation combining complex concrete architecture with glass facades and linear concrete cladding. PERI has provided professional engineering services and bespoke formwork solutions in order to achieve the best possible architectural concrete result.

    The innovative and tried-and-tested MAXIMO panel formwork has been adapted to accommodate the technology of single-sided anchoring and can be used very flexibly.
    Depending on the fresh concrete pressure and wal thickness, the Tie MX 15 or MX 18 is used. In the process, a removable sealing allows fast and simple adaption to suit both sizes of anchor.
    The MXK bracket system provides a high level of safety whilst requiring only a minimum of installation effort. The lightweight system components can be installed on the ground by hand.

    A decade of maximum efficiency for forming walls

    Presented for the first time at the bauma 2007, the MAXIMO panel formwork continues to make a convincing case even a decade later through its enormous economic efficiency.     For the fourth time now, PERI exhibited at the bauma CONEXPO in Neu-Dehli. Among other things, DUO, ALPHAKIT, SKYDECK, GRIDFLEX, VARIO, LIWA and PERI UP were showcased.
    Also in India's second largest city, there was a prize for the DUO system. The “Construction Opportunity Excellence Award” went this year to the innovative formwork from Weissenhorn.

    Through the integrated scaffold nodes on the PERI UP Easy Frame, ledgers, supports and console brackets can be directly connected. This makes it possible, e.g., to also easily mount external flights of stairs; these provide convenient and safe access to all areas.
    The integrated protection against lifting in the scaffold decking in detail: the integrated clamp engages the rectangular ledger and thus secures the position of the decking. PERI UP decks are also secured against lifting after installation without requiring any additional components.
    PERI UP decking always completely covers the entire axial dimesnions; there are no gaps or offsets between the decks – both from bay to bay as well as decks positioned parallel to each other. Covers for gaps in the decking are not required.

    A total of 44 storeys wind their way elegantly upwards on the so-called Generali Tower in Milan (Italy). The clever climbing formwork solution for the project by Zaha Hadid is yet another trend-setting development from PERI.

    Targeting worldwide growth

    PERI can look back with great satisfaction at events in 2016 and retains a positive outlook regarding future business development. Special highlights of the year included participation at the world´s leading trade fair, bauma, where the latest innovations from Weissenhorn were showcased as well as the purchase of a site in Günzburg (about 20 km from headquarters in Weißenhorn) on which the master production plant for PERI UP scaffolding technology is currently being realized.     Climbing formwork and shoring solution for complex bridge pylons

    The almost 90 m high pylons for a new cable‑stayed bridge across the Ohio River are characterized by their complex shapes and massive legs and cross beams. PERI provided a comprehensive overall concept for its construction – consisting of a planning solution with perfectly matched formwork, climbing, shoring and scaffolding systems along with extensive on‑site support. With this PERI solution, the construction crew were able to realize the two bridge pylons in Louisville within the specified construction period and with low dimension tolerances.

    bauma 2016: An outstanding success for PERI

    At the 32nd Edition of the World´s Leading Trade Fair for Construction Machinery, Building Material Machines, Mining Machines, Construction Vehicles and Construction Equipment, around 175,000 visitors were recorded at PERI´s specially erected exhibition hall. The biggest attractions featured a number of interesting innovations: DUO Universal Formwork, SKYMAX Slab Formwork and the ACS Core 400 Core Climbing Formwork. PERI Managing Director, Alexander Schwörer, confirmed: "For us, bauma 2016 was a great success, and we are very satisfied with the positive feedback as well as the high quality of the fair visitors."

    The new PERI UP scaffolding system is a "lightweight" among steel facade scaffoldings, and, in addition, it provides a high level of safety in the system: the guardrail for the next level is installed together with the Easy* Frame from the lower scaffolding level without requiring any additional components.
    Both the combi decking with a 66 cm width as well as the 33 cm wide steel decks are designed with the integrated lock against lift off. They can be removed at any time. Without exception, all decking covers the entire system width; there are no gaps between the decks.
    With PERI UP Easy*, internal and external corners are executed quickly and with very few system components.

    Continuously adjustable for radii ranging from 2.5m upwards including standard working platform bracket; decking and guardrails were client supplied to provide the safety condition.
    Designing wall 19 with plywood gussets - Vario formwork would provide the basic alignment, with 3 layers of 6mm thickness plywood to provide the final intricately shaped formlining.
    RUNDFLEX panels were designed separately for the specific length and subsequently templates were provided for each and every use. SB Brace Frames were used for some parts of the wall for the purpose of single-sided concreting where through ties could not be placed.

    LPS screen is a weight-optimized protection system due to the metal mesh panels. This system was used as a perimeter protection and was preassembled in PERI yard.
    Slab stops at level 12 and starts again at level 18. This was a challenge for the LPS screens as they had to be held back and then jumped up once L18 and 19 were poured.
    PERI UP Rosett was used as scaffold edge protection as well as shoring for L18 slab.

    Completion now within reach: flooding of a canal section

    With the flooding of a canal section in June 2015, tests have begun in readiness for the scheduled opening of the expansion project in 10 months time. Since 2011, PERI has delivered around 1,100 containers of formwork and scaffolding materials to Panama. Once again, the company has demonstrated its superb service capabilities as well as ability to deliver – in this particular case through the excellent teamwork of several subsidiaries.
